Woman who was killed in Capitol Hill shooting identified, no arrests so far
SEATTLE — The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim of a shooting in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood as 25-year-old Breanna Lavona Tasha Simmons.
Simmons was the first victim of a pair of shootings at 11th Avenue and Pike Street over the weekend.
The first shooting happened on Saturday morning around 1:30 a.m.
According to Seattle police, Simmons was shot multiple times in the chest and died at the scene despite efforts from bystanders and first responders.
24 hours later at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday, a group was gathered at the same spot near 11th and Pike for a vigil to honor Simmons when shots were fired again, according to Seattle police.
A 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken by paramedics to the hospital. A 29-year-old man was also shot and later walked into Harborview Medical Center to seek treatment.

The male victim told investigators he was shot at the vigil as well.
According to Seattle police, witnesses reported there were multiple shooters who fled the scene.
“We have no reason to believe the public is in danger from what went on this weekend,” Detective Brian Pritchard told KOMO News. “We’re working as hard as we can we can especially to solve things like this.Getting people off the streets, the shooters, the suspects, is important.”
The shootings rattled the Capitol Hill neighborhood, which is the center of the city’s nightlife scene.
“Once I heard that happened, I said ‘I’m not going out this weekend, probably won’t go out for the next few weekends,” said Rae Harris, who visits the bars near 11th and Pike on weekends. “We definitely need more cameras for sure to capture whatever is going on, and more police presence as well.”
In July, a woman was shot and killed in a parking lot approximately a block away from this weekend’s shooting scene.
