Will Smith and Michael Bay look to reunite in Netflix action pic 'Fast and Loose'.
Exclusive: Following its success Bad Boys: Ride or DieWill Smith is looking to reunite in a big way with the director who helped him launch it bad boys Franchise about 30 years ago. While a deal hasn't been officially closed, sources tell Deadline that Michael Bay is in final talks to direct the Netflix action film. Fast and looseWhich will star Smith. Sources add that while the start date is not official, the film is likely to be the next project for both the A-listers.
Deadline recently broke the thriller that Smith will be dropping out of sugar bandits, Which was potentially lined up as his next project; Once he parted ways with that film, there was excitement in town about what Smith might do next.
Fast and loose Follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he's been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent. The script was written by John Hober, Eric Hober, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson.
87North's Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are in talks to produce for Westbrook and James Lassiter, with Westbrook studio co-presidents and heads of motion pictures John Mone and Ryan Shimazaki to produce the picture with Smith. Westbrook was also a producer Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
Robert Symonds and Noah Fogelson will produce for STXfilms. Barry Waldman will also produce.
Fast and loose Smith has been developing something for some time, and the release follows Bad Boys: Ride or Diewhich grossed $400 million at the worldwide box office, several projects associated with Smith gained momentum. The project is the type of main event film Netflix is still trying to prioritize, and the idea of reuniting Smith and Bay was too hard for all parties to pass up.
Bay and Smith's relationship goes back to the 1995 original bad boyswhich directed and starred Bay Smith and essentially launched both into movie stardom: Smith would become one of the most bankable stars for decades to come, while Bay became a director for any major tentpole. He finally accepted Transformer franchise, directing the first five films in the series.
After grouping for Bad Boys II In 2003, Smith and Bay were in contact about what could be their next team-up.
Bay previously directed the 2019 action thriller 6 Underground For Netflix, that produced strong results. His 2022 thriller Ambulance One of the most played action movies on streamers. He is represented by Range Media Partners.
