Universal has announced the opening date for the new Epic Universe theme park in Orlando

The portals to Universal Orlando are about to open

NBCUniversal's theme parks and experiences division says its new Epic Universe park — which it calls its “most ambitious” park yet — will officially open on May 22, 2025.

The company announced the opening date on Thursday morning, adding that multi-day tickets and packages will go on sale from October 22

Epic Universe consists of five distinct “worlds”, each accessible through a different portal entrance. These worlds include some of the best-known intellectual properties of NBCUniversal and other companies. These include a new Harry Potter-themed world called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Ministry of Magic, a How to train your dragon World, Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe, which are based on Universal Monsters such as Frankenstein and The Mummy.

“This is an important moment for our destination, and we are thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” said Karen Irwin, president and COO of Universal Orlando Resort. “With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience with a week's worth of thrills that will be nothing short of epic! Our universe will never be the same.”

The company will also open its Universal Helios Grand Hotel on the same day. The new resort from Loews includes its own dedicated entrance to Epic Universe Park.

With the brand new park, Universal is initially offering a limited number of ticket packages to gain access to Epic Universe, requiring buyers to purchase three, four or five day tickets… one of those days at Epic Universe, and the others at its other Orlando parks: Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure.

It also launched a deal that offers some discounts when shoppers purchase a seven-day vacation package that includes a stay at a Universal resort.

The company promises “additional ticket products” in the future.
