Tyra Banks and her iconic smize make an epic comeback at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show after retiring in 2005

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is back — and so is Tyra Banks!

The 50-year-old modeling icon — who walked in nine shows during her tenure with the brand before retiring from modeling in 2005 — made her grand return to the catwalk on Oct. 15 as a “native New Yorker” to roars from the crowd.

Banks meant business as she walked the catwalk in a silver cape with black lining, a crystal-encrusted bustier, sparkly leggings and heels.

Before hitting the runway in New York City — where the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show debuted — Banks helped tease the return of the show with another famous face of Victoria's Secret, Gigi Hadid.

The model duo announced the news on Instagram in August with a sketch video soundtracking Chappelle Rhone, which Banks nodded to, commenting, “We really need a femininity!”

The sketch – which saw Hadid star-studded in the bank before accepting an invitation from her – comes months after Victoria's Secret first announced its annual fashion comeback.

“We've read the comments and heard you,” May's Instagram post read. “The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show ✨ is back ✨ and will reflect who we are today, plus what you know and love – glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more!”

In a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time, a Victoria's Secret representative echoed the show's promise to reflect who the brand is today.

“The 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will deliver exactly what our customers want – glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment – all through a strong, modern lens that reflects who we are today,” the statement said. Thrilled to finally share a female-led take on this iconic property!”

In September, Banks appeared again on Victoria's Secret's social media, admitting that returning to the show “feels crazy.”

“It feels crazy to be back on the Victoria's Secret runway,” she said in a joint post with the brand. “I mean 'cray cray', like 'cray cray good'. I never thought I'd be back on this runway, to be honest.”

the former ANTM The host also said Harper's Bazaar Walking in the show nearly two decades after hanging up her wings in 2005 is “a little bit of an out-of-body experience” — and revealed she's been “walking in heels” to practice!

“I walked off that runway and I [had] This big retirement and it was a spectacle,” he told the outlet. “I felt like those athletes, 'I'm hanging up my cleats … I'm retiring from basketball.' And then, now I'm back!”

“I never in a million years thought I'd be back on the runway, but I'm so excited and ready for it,” added Banks.
