The Jets are somehow favored Thursday night vs. the Texans
The 2-6 Jets host the 6-2 Texans on Thursday night. And, somehow, the Jets are favored to win.
The consensus spread is Jets minus-1.5. Jet. Sad, misguided, inefficient jets. In favor of defeating the Texans.
Yes, the Jets beat the Texans 30-6 at MetLife Stadium last year. But that was last year. The Jets are in free fall this year after firing coach Robert Saleh. With the losses piling up, including a disappointing loss against the previously 1-6 Patriots, why does anyone think interim coach Jeff Ulbricht will be able to reset this team in a short week for a game against an AFC Super Bowl contender?
The situation played right into the hands of Texans coach DiMeco Ryans, who can now point to the point spread as an indication that people don't trust his team in their efforts to prepare for three straight prime-time games. (Lions and Cowboys later)
Meanwhile, the Jets have been favored in two of the three previous post-Saleh games. And they are 0-3.
But they are still favorable for Thursday night. Maybe the bettors know something the rest of us don't. Or maybe they'll just be wrong, again.
