The first reaction to Agatha is over the full moon
Disney has officially lifted its review embargo Agatha All Along Ahead of its arrival on Disney+ tomorrow. Now that the first reactions from those presented with screener copies of its first four episodes are out, let's see what the world thinks of Marvel's latest series.
Overall, it looks like people are very excited for this particular return for Marvel, especially given its connections to WandavisionWhich really kicked off Marvel's TV era with a bang… a bang that many shows have since tried in vain to recover from, honestly. Praise is mainly aimed at Kathryn Hahn's return as Agatha, as well as Aubrey Plaza's potentially snarky and deadpan new character, Rio Vidal. Joe Locke's enigmatic “Teen” was singled out as a highlight, with reviewers describing his performance as “a gem”, “a blast” and “a scene stealer”. Better yet, the series has been called “batshit crazy,” while boasting some “really creepy scares” befitting its theme. In contrast, some other reviews note that it's both “a bit slow” and “doesn't take itself seriously” enough that viewers can invest too much interest in themselves. On an otherwise positive note, a reviewer faintly praises Agatha All Along As “actually feel[ing] Like TV” compared to other recent programs on Disney+.
#AgathaAllAlong The perfect follow-up to WandaVision! 💜 The first 4 eps are a delightful mix of Hocus Pocus and The Wizard of Oz, with hints of horror and plenty of comedy.
This series is very funny and engaging. It's got the same impressive vibe as Wandavision.

Agatha All Along is absolutely crazy in all the right ways.
Kathryn Hahn is a force, camping it up as Agatha Harkness as we all knew she would. The rest of the cast is also divine, and Joe Locke is a gem.
Vibrant, exotic and bright. #AgathaAllAlong🔮 pic.twitter.com/UZFwaD1AXO

After four episodes #AgathaAllAlongThis is clear #wandavision The spin-off keeps the mystery alive by casting a new magical spell. Kathryn Hahn is perfection, embracing every wicked moment. The musical elements don't just enhance—they impress. This is magic #MCU need pic.twitter.com/ta9APo0ro4

#AgathaAllAlong Perfect show for the spooky season and filled with great magical energy. Kathryn Hahn is as iconic as ever and delivers a deliciously confusing and spellbinding performance. Joe Locke is a scene stealer. This is the most fun you'll have at a show this year. pic.twitter.com/jieZUrWWIU

First 4 #AgathaAllAlong eps is a strong sequel to WANDAVISION because they have their own identity
The songs are great. Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza's Dynamic Electric. Debra Jo Rupp brings the laughs, but this is the scariest MCU project to date.

#AgathaAllAlong Naughty fun! A magical spin-off that spells its own. Kathryn Hahn is delightfully mischievous, Joe Locke is a blast to watch, and Coven's chemistry will captivate you. A perfect Marvel series for the Halloween season, bound to leave you hexed! pic.twitter.com/koVDToKUZv

If ever there was a character that deserves her own spin-off series, it's Agatha Harkness. Kathryn Hahn is better than ever, improving as she takes center stage. As Joe Locke, he is a complete scene stealer and will undoubtedly become a newbie @Marvel Fan favorite. #AgathaAllAlong 💜✨ pic.twitter.com/eH5sJxpKSl

#AgathaAllAlong A crazy, wicked, funny, mystery-filled journey with some truly terrifying scares. Wasn't too excited, but became a complete fan after watching. Compared to Disney+ shows, it actually feels like TV in both writing and pacing. Can't wait for more! pic.twitter.com/AEJLO4RmrP

I had a lot of concern with the title #AgathaAllAlongBut I'm thrilled to report that this witch has thoroughly enjoyed what she's seen so far I'm already doing a ton of fun theorizing, and I really hope it sticks the landing! pic.twitter.com/rozbzcsOjW

Watched its first 4 episodes #AgathaAllAlong. it's ok After a fun start, it slows down. It doesn't take itself or its characters seriously, and neither should the audience. Joe Locke's mystery character is the only likable one, but the Marvel mystery marketing strategy has to play… pic.twitter.com/agFTZaWCVE

#AgathaAllAlong Wicked fun! Kathryn Hahn is brilliant, along with all the other actresses! But, it is #Jolok Who has always fascinated me!
The first 4 episodes were a bit slow… I hope they pick up more.. and have a Hocus Pocus vibe… pic.twitter.com/fazV1r7cBr— Jana N Nagase – Jana On Camera (@janaoncamera) September 17, 2024
#AgathaAllAlong It's camp and Katharine Hahn sells it in every single scene. It's funny, sexy and Aubrey Plaza was made to be a Marvel witch. pic.twitter.com/GH5wbwU2I7

#AgathaAllAlong Another fun track in the MCU – the first four episodes set up an interesting journey, but it's the amazing chemistry of the cast that really carries the show. Kathryn Hahn is top notch, but it's Aubrey Plaza who steals the show. Down the witch road, we go! pic.twitter.com/rdejLxjYf9
