Ted Danson Apologizes to Kelsey Grammer for Argument During 'Cheers' Years: 'I Feel Like I've Missed the Last 30 Years' and 'It's My Bad'
Ted Danson recently apologized to Kelsey Grammer for their decade-old argument while working together on “Cheers.”
On the Oct. 23 episode of the “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast, co-hosted by Danson and Woody Harrelson, Grammer and Danson reminisced about their time together on the hit NBC sitcom and discussed what their relationship was like off camera.
“I seem to have gotten a little stuck with you during the Cheers years,” Danson told Grammer. “I remember being angry with you once.”
“Yes, you came and told me one day,” Grammer exclaimed. The former “Cheers” co-stars have not released any specifics about the dispute.
“It's stuck in both of our memories. But I think I've missed the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer and I think it's my bad, my job,” Danson admitted, “and I almost feel like apologizing to you.”
He continued, “No, I don't think – I apologize to you and to me that I sat back, you know, and didn't. And I really apologize.”
Grammer thanked Danson for the apology and said she also wished they had “spent more time together.”
“My love for you was always as plain as day,” Grammer said. “As simple as the sunrise.”
Danson played Sam Malone during the sitcom's 11-season run from 1982 to 1993, while Grammer appeared as Dr. Frasier Crane between 1984 and 1993. The “Cheers” cast also included Harrelson, Rhea Perlman, Shelley Long and John Ratzenberger.
After “Cheers” ended, Grammer reprized his role in the spinoff series “Frasier,” which ran from 1993 to 2004, and the revival series of the same name on Paramount+. The second season of the “Frasier” revival was released in September.
