Taylor Swift's Backup Dancer's Brother Confronts Her Boyfriend Kells In 'Play Of The Game'
A The backup dancer on Taylor Swift's Eras tour said it was “game play” when her brother spectacularly intercepted a pass on Monday Night Football — shortly after hitting a thunderbolt on Swift's boyfriend — while the pop superstar watched in person from the luxury box.
Eras performer Cameron Saunders, her professional football-playing brother Khalen, Swift and her partner, Travis Kelce, lean into the one next to the 14-time Grammy winner, animatedly pointing out onto the field in plain view, the sequence of events unfolding. A television camera, and says incredulously: “This is my backup dancer's brother.”
Meanwhile Cameron Saunders had a field day on his Instagram account with his brother's big moment.
Alongside a story proclaiming, “Period!!!!! PLAYING THE GAME,” he also reposted a video with the caption: “What's happening now with Travis Taylor Come Saunders' Brother Lore Crossover on Eras Tour.” The dancer briefly announced that Khalen is in the US national spotlight. He “hands up the best clip” of Saunders' turn.
Khalen Saunders joined the New Orleans Saints for their 2023 NFL campaign after helping the Kansas City Chiefs win two Super Bowl championships. He and the Saints lost to the Kells Chiefs on Monday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City by a score of 26-13 in Swift's presence — but not before Khalen Saunders left his mark on the contest.
Late in the third quarter, Kelce caught a pass near the goal line defended by the Saints, but Saunders tackled him two yards short, causing both players' helmets to collide violently. Kells was visibly shaken after the collision, with one television commentator commenting: “It's a [he] Feel – I promise you.”
On the next play, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes targeted a pass to teammate Juju Smith-Schuster in the end zone. Saints defender Paulson Adebo hit Smith-Schuster as the Chiefs receiver caught the ball, breaking it free.
Khalen Saunders instinctively gravitated toward Adebo and Smith-Schuster — and plucked the ball out of the air with one hand as it hit him. He then ran 37 yards the opposite way, setting up a Saints score that temporarily allowed them to pull within three points of the Chiefs before Kansas City finally got out of the woods.
At 6 feet 1 inch, 324 pounds, Khalen Saunders is not the smallest man to ever live. But he impressed the spectators of the game with how he secured the ball against his body after his first career interception and strode confidently towards the goal line which the Chiefs defended – not always an easy feat for someone of his size – until his opponents finally stopped him. no him
Among them was Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who suggested on social media that Khalen Saunders should have played running back earlier, a position in the game that primarily involves carrying the football to the opposing end. On his Instagram, Cameron Saunders replied to Murray's post: “Actually, yes he did.”
Khalen Saunders' connection to Swift through Cameron was the headline of a story between and during the game. The broadcast featured a photo of Cameron, Kelce and Swift during an Eras Tour concert at London's Wembley Stadium in July.
That photo was pinned to the top of Cameron Saunders' Instagram account with a caption about his closeness to Kells.
“Trav.. I was an absolute HAM of my life with you on stage,” the caption read. “It was such a full circle moment for me.
“I've played countless Chiefs games with my family over the years to support my baby brother … and now you and I get to share the biggest stage in the world with the boss lady … full circle! The Saunders family loves you, Trav!”
Asked a few days before Monday's showdown if he was counting on his older brother's support, Khalen Saunders told reporters that he really expects it.
“He doesn't care about the majors,” the native of St. Louis, Missouri, said in the video. “He cares for his brother. It's his boss, but I'm his brother.”
Cameron Saunders, who posed for a photo with Khalen on the field before Monday's game, has no doubts about the alliance.
Reposting Khalen's comment, Cameron wrote: “Of course I care about the Chiefs … just not today!”
