Samara Weaving, Radio Silence Returning to Work on 'Ready or Not 2'
Samara Weaving and Radio Silence walk down the aisle once more.
Matt Bettinelli-Wolpin, Tyler Gillette and Chad Villella are set to reprise their acting and filmmaking collective. Ready or not 2Sequel to their 2019 dark comedy horror hit for Searchlight Pictures.
Guy Busick and R. Written by Christopher Murphy, the movie tells the story of a bride, played by Weaving, who learns about her new family's wedding night ritual: drawing a card from a puzzle card game. If someone draws a hide and seek card during the game, as he does, a murderous game is played out, to satisfy an ancient family pact with the devil.
The cast included Adam Brody, Henry Cherney and Andy McDowell.
ready or notMade for just $6 million, it grossed over $28 million domestically and was the widest release for Searchlight at the time. It earned strong critical reviews that praised its ability to deliver suspense and kills while making social commentary. Its reputation and profitability in the home entertainment market continues to grow.
Trip Vinson, Bradley J. Fisher, William Sherac and James Vanderbilt are returning as producers. Villela and Tara Farney will executive produce.
No tech or plot details have been given, but Busick and Murphy are also returning to write.
Word of the sequel came the same evening as Searchlight threw a screening of the movie at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. Weaving and Radio Silence were expected to be present for the post-screening Q&A
VP of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Cornelia Barley will oversee Searchlight's project, reporting to Co-Heads of Production and Development Dantram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
