Film director Roman Polanski has reached a settlement agreement in a lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted a minor. The case was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in June 2023 and was scheduled to go to trial in August 2025.

The woman came forward in 2017, identified only as Robin M at the time, and claimed during a press conference in Los Angeles that Polanski “sexually preyed” on her when she was 16 years old. The woman said she told a friend about what happened “the day after the torture” but did not tell her parents. “Because, with that exception, I kept it to myself that I didn't want my dad to do something that could land him in prison for the rest of his life,” she said.

Robin M. said she decided to come forward when she learned that Samantha Geimer, who Polanski admitted to statutory rape when she was 13, planned to ask a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to dismiss Polanski's criminal case forever. . “It bothered me,” Robin M. said in a statement. “I am speaking out now so that Samantha and the world know that she is not the only minor victim of Roman Polanski.”
