Prime Video will offer Apple TV+ content as a paid add-on

Amazon is launching Apple TV+ as a premium add-on within the Prime Video app later this month.

Apple TV+ content will soon be available on Prime Video in the US as a $9.99 per month add-on, Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, announced Wednesday night during the Bloomberg Screentime event in Los Angeles. No specific launch date has been revealed yet.

With the subscription, Amazon subscribers get access to all of Apple's scripted content as well as Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball sporting events.

“We have a good partnership with Apple on several fronts…our companies do a lot of business together,” Hopkins said during the event. “I think what we offer channel partners is millions of customers around the world who have access to their channels.”

Apple is one of more than 100 add-on options that Prime Video offers to US customers, allowing viewers to access more content without multiple subscriptions.

According to Amazon, Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ directly through the Prime Video app, without the need for another app — or a cable. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time.

“We want to bring Apple TV+ and its award-winning library and library of series and movies from the world's best storytellers to the widest possible audience,” Eddie Cue, Apple's SVP of Services, said in a statement. “We're thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options.”
