Pink Floyd recorded music catalog sold for $400M
British rock band Pink Floyd has reportedly sold its recorded music catalog, including the rights to its name and likeness, to Sony Music for $400 million.
Sources told Variety that the legendary rock band came to an agreement after decades of infighting between band members. According to the outlet, the deal only includes recorded music rights, not songwriting.
Pink Floyd's music catalog is one of the most treasured albums in contemporary music such as “Dark Side of the Moon,” “The Wall,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Animals,” “Medal,” “Piper at the Gates of Dawn” and ” More.”
According to the outlet, Sony has spent more than $1 billion on music catalogs ranging from Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen.

Pink Floyd did not immediately respond to Fox Business' request for comment.
Pink Floyd's music catalog has reportedly spanned the years. Variety reported that the band nearly closed on a $500 million deal through 2022, but infighting between band members destroyed the deal.
In particular, Roger Waters' comments against Israel and Ukraine and his pro-Russia stance made it difficult to close the deal, according to Variety.
In 2022, Pink Floyd released its first new music in nearly three decades to raise money for the people of Ukraine. “Hey Hey Rise Up” features the vocals of Pink Floyd members David Gilmour and Nick Mason, Ukrainian singer Andrii Khlivniuk of the band Boombox.
