Piers Morgan apologizes to Jay-Z and Beyoncé for false guest claims
Piers Morgan has apologized to Jay-Z and Beyoncé after a guest on his show Uncensored made allegations they said were “total lies”.
Last week, he interviewed singer Jaguar Wright Sean 'Diddy' Combs' recent arrest.
He said on the show that he's been “screaming” for four years that “Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters”.
Morgan said Tuesday that he had been contacted by lawyers for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, who said the claims were “completely false and have no basis in fact.”
The former Good Morning Britain host said Wright would have voiced his opinion regardless of appearing on the show, saying “the reality of the modern world is that almost everyone has a platform as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear.”
He added: “So we invited [Wright] People who are making these demands to be interviewed have audiences like mine with or without the show.”
But Morgan said that now that he has heard from the couple's lawyers, they will edit Wright's allegations from the show.
He then offered a direct apology, saying: “Editing interviews is not something we do lightly on a show called Uncensored.
“But like the proverbial fire in a crowded theater, we have legal limitations. And we apologize to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”
Wright collaborated with the hip-hop group The Roots and appeared as a backing singer for Jay-Z.
