Piers Morgan apologizes after publicizing Jaguar Wright's allegations against Jay-Z and Beyoncé
Piers Morgan issued an on-air apology to Jay-Z and Beyoncé this week regarding an interview with Jaguar Wright, who made allegations on Morgan's show against the superstar power couple that turned out to be false.
Wright, a singer, recently appeared on Morgan's show Uncensoredwhere he talks about the recent arrest of Sean “Diddy” Combs. “For four years I've been screaming not just DD, but DD and Jay-Z are monsters,” Wright said in his interview. Elsewhere, he claims that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé have hundreds of victims.
On Tuesday, Morgan revealed on her show that lawyers for Jay-Z and Beyoncé had contacted her and that Wright's claims were “completely false and have no basis in fact.”
“The thing about platforms, the reality of the modern world is that almost everyone has a platform as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear,” Morgan told his audience. “So we invited [Wright] People who are making these demands to be interviewed have audiences like mine with or without the show.”
He continued, “Well, Jaguar, unexpectedly, made some serious allegations about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during that interview. I said at this point, they weren't there to respond or defend themselves, but now they are. We have lawyers with us. contacted that these claims are completely false and have no basis in fact and we have therefore accepted a legal request to exclude them from the original interview.”
Morgan ended his message with a direct apology. “Editing interviews is not something we do lightly at The Named Show Uncensored“He said, “But like the proverbial fire in a crowded theater we have legal limitations. And we apologize to Jay-Z and Beyonce.”
