Penn State did not start the second half vs. Wisconsin due to an apparent injury to QB Drew Ala
Madison, Wis. — Penn State quarterback Drew Aller left Saturday's 28-13 win at Wisconsin late in the first half and walked into the locker room with a trainer. Aller was concussed after absorbing a sack on the final possession of the first half with Penn State trailing 10-7.
He grabbed his left knee while going off the field. When Oller came out of the tunnel after halftime — and did so earnestly before attempting a few throws — backup quarterback Beau Prybula led the offense for the opening drive of the second half. Pribuler stood on the sidelines with a towel tied around Alla's head and a brace on his left knee as he took the field. He took the brace off within minutes but stood by quarterbacks coach Danny O'Brien.
Pribula, a more mobile quarterback than Alar, has used his legs this season. Penn State's No. 3 quarterback is freshman Ethan Grunkemeier. Aller was sharp in the first quarter, completing 9 of 10 passes for 113 yards. His lone incompletion was a drop by Julian Fleming. Aller went 14 of 18 for 148 yards in the first half with a touchdown pass to running back Nicholas Singleton. In his place, Pribula completed 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown and rushed six times for 28 yards.
Aller's availability now becomes a focal point for next week's game against No. 4 Ohio State at Beaver Stadium.
