Olivia Rodrigo Cruelly Falls Through Trapdoor On Stage: 'Oh My God'
It's really brutal out here. Life imitated Olivia Rodrigo's lyrics after taking a nasty tumble through a trapdoor while on stage during her Guts World Tour show in Australia.
“Bad idea right?” The singer, 21, was performing at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Sunday, October 13, when she disappeared after suddenly falling through a trapdoor.
As the crowd gasped, Rodrigo came up for air and joked about the incident.
“Oh my God, that was fun! I'm fine,” the Grammy winner said, laughing at her unexpected mess as she pulled herself up.
“Wow, sometimes, there's just a hole in the stage,” he laughed. “Okay.”
Trying to compose herself, the “Vampire” singer took a deep breath and said, “Okay, where have I been? How are we doing tonight, Melbourne?”
Rodrigo quickly recovered from the fall and finished the concert without another fall. He later poked fun at the mishap via TikTok.
Posting a clip of the crash, he captioned the footage, “#fineprediction.”
The pop star has several shows left on the Australian leg of her first world tour: one more in Melbourne and four in Sydney.
Rodrigo's plunge comes weeks before the release of her Netflix concert film “Olivia Rodrigo: Guts World Tour.”
The streaming giant filmed the special at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The film promises fans a glimpse into his sold-out tour featuring songs from his latest album, “Guts,” and his debut record, “Talk.”
It's available to stream on Netflix from October 29
“I'm so excited to share the GUTS World Tour with my fans,” the star said in a statement. “For those of you who haven't had a chance to rock out in person, now you can have the best seat in the house! And the fans who cheered, screamed and danced with me, I'm so glad we got to do it again!”
Rodrigo's 2024 tour year ends after the rest of his stops in Australia — but he won't be on hiatus for long.
The tour will resume in March 2025 in Argentina, Chile and Brazil at Lollapalooza, under the supervision of the “Deja Vu” singer. Rodrigo will head to Colombia for the Festival Estero Picnic before ending in Manchester on June 30 and July 1.
