Olivia Nuzzi breaks silence on Sheryl Hines RFK Jr. wedding after sexting scandal: 'A lot of emotion'
Sheryl Hines has revealed that she and her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are writing a book about the “rumors” they dealt with in her alleged sex scandal with political reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
“So much emotion with rumours!” the actress told Us Weekly while wearing her wedding ring at Saturday's Groundlings 50th anniversary event in Los Angeles.
But, all will be in my book. I am writing a book. I'm taking notes – serious notes!
Amid the gossip surrounding her 10-year marriage, Hines shared that she's “focused on having a lot of fun with [her] family.”
“They're funny. I mean, if I had a boring family, it would be hard,” she said. “And I think trying to embrace the unknown and instead of fighting against it, trying to embrace it and say yes to whatever comes your way. “
The “RV” star explained that he's “trying to focus on the little moments and not take anything too seriously.”
“Although I find myself in a very serious situation!” Hines, 59, added.
Hines shares daughter Catherine Rose, 20, with ex-husband Paul Young, while Kennedy has children Bobby, 40, Kathleen, 36, Connor, 30, Kira, 29, Willian, 26, and Aidan, 23, from previous relationships.
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star also opened up about the secrets of a long-lasting marriage and overcoming “crazy” moments with her husband.
“There has to be a connection,” he told Us Weekly.
“There's a connection that you look at your husband or your partner and look at all the crazy things that are happening around you, or you look and you check in and it's like, 'Okay. It's going to be okay. We're going to get through this moment.'
He continued, “And, you know, sometimes it's fun and you can lean in and say, 'This is crazy,' and have a moment together and then hold your head up and go on to the next thing.”
Hines also reflected on the beginning of her romance with Kennedy in 2011, explaining that they learned how to roll with life's curves.
“When I met Bobby, I said, 'You never wanted to go into politics?' And he said, 'No, I think I can do more as an environmental attorney and I don't have to. I'm not the vision of the company or the corporation,” he explained.
“I was like, 'Great. This is going to be great!' And then life gives you a left turn, a right turn, but it turns out.”
Last year, Kennedy, 70, launched his 2024 presidential bid, but he withdrew from the election in August and endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Hines admits that although politics can cause a lot of mixed feelings, she doesn't allow her husband's career to interfere with their connection.
“People have a lot of feelings about politics, especially in Hollywood, and I don't know,” he told the outlet. “I mean, so far I think it's fine.
“I'm fine having conversations like that with people and, to me, that doesn't define anyone. It happens to some people and you can't control it. I can't do anything about it, so I have to let it wash over me.”
Hines and Kennedy tied the knot in 2014 after dating for about three years.
The “Waitress” star's comments about her husband come after the 31-year-old New York magazine political correspondent made headlines for his alleged affair with Nuzzi.
Nuzzi admitted to having an affair with Kennedy when she told people about the “intimate” photos he texted her.
The scandal led to Nuzzi being fired from her job and breaking up with then-fiancé Ryan Liza.
Meanwhile, Hines fronted Kennedy despite being photographed without her wedding ring shortly after the news broke.
