Maria Stan starrer 'Reacher' spinoff gets series order at Prime Video

Prime Video's “Reacher” universe is expanding with a series order for a spinoff starring Maria Stan.

“The Untitled Nigley Project” centers on Stan's Frances Nigley, a private investigator in Jack Reacher's circle. “When she learns that a dear friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice,” reads the show's synopsis. “Using everything he's learned from Jack Reacher and his time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Negley finds himself on a dangerous path to uncover a terrifying evil.”

Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke made the announcement at the Prime Video Presents: Trailblazer event in London on Tuesday. “Reacher” series creator Nick Santora developed the spinoff with “Law & Order” writer Nicholas Wootton, and the two will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The show is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television and CBS Studios. Although the release date is yet to be revealed, the series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.

Vernon Sanders, Head of Television, Amazon MGM Studios, said, “As 'Reacher' resonates so deeply with our global customers, it was an easy decision to expand the storytelling and characters with the spinoff. “Together with Nick and Nicholas, as well as our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we are confident that this new chapter, starring the amazing Maria Stan, will not only honor the 'Reacher' legacy but also bring new energy and excitement to new and longtime fans alike.”

“Reacher,” starring Alan Richson, is based on Lee Child's “Jack Reacher” book series and has become one of Prime Video's most successful shows. It is currently in development on season 3.

“Lee Child has created a very rich character with Negley, and Maria Stein brings him to life in such a vivid, authentic way in Reacher,” Santora and Wootton said in a statement. “Amazon, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios have been tremendous partners from the beginning, and we're excited to further explore Negley's story and dive into what makes him so unique.”

Stan added, “I'm thrilled to further explore the world of Nigley and his somewhat mysterious background. She's a great character to play and I'm excited for everyone to get to know her better.”

In addition to Santora and Wootton, the series is executive produced by Child, Don Granger and Lisa Kusner with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television. Carolyn Harris, Kenny Madrid and Nico Fernandez will oversee the project for Skydance.
