'It'll be worth $45k in 3 years': Driver trades 2025 Lincoln Aviator for 1 week Why?
Car salesman and TikToker Russ (@russflipswhips) may be one of the first dealership workers to have a unique problem. He already has a used 2025 Lincoln Aviator for sale – only 447 miles on the dash.
Russ explains why the family traded in this high-tech whip after only a week of driving. His viral clip on the matter has garnered over 170,000 views and several comments
“I traded a customer in for a 2025 Aviator after driving it for a week and it will really surprise you why,” he begins.
He explained how customers arrived last week, wanting “all the technology,” including self-driving. However, because they trade it in shocked Russ.
@russflipswhips if u wanna use 2025 hmu 🤣 #carsales #cardealership #carsalesman #carbuyingtips ♬ Original words – RussFlipsWhips
“So this car was $79,000 brand new,” he continued. “It has massage seats, it has nice backseats with center consoles. It has the correct color interior and only has 447 miles on it.”
According to Rusch, the customer realized after a week that Benz's technology was “really, really hard for them to use.”
Too much technology
Russ said the customer wanted a 2024 Aviator instead.
“We don't need this technology. We just want a car that we can get in and, you know, plug in our phone and turn on the climate controls,” Russ recalls the customer saying.
So Russ says they traded them out of the '25' and put in a '24', which they were already familiar with.
“Now I have a 2025 Lincoln Aviator with 447 miles that I need to sell,” Russ said. “So we will sell this car at 10 grand off MSRP Until the end of sixty-nine ninety-nine months. Or we'll put it in our loaner fleet because that's probably where we're going to put this thing.”
He continued, “But if you want a crazy deal on the 2025 Aviator, here it is. fully loaded.”
TikTokers have weight
A bystander couldn't believe the family had left the car so quickly. “I'm amazed that this is the world's first used 2025 Lincoln aviator,” they commented
Others thought the amount the seller was lowering the MSRP wasn't enough. “Only 10k off MSRP for a used 1 owner is nuts,” they wrote.
However, someone else said they thought it wasn't that much of a discount: “That's a lot off for a week-old car with 400 miles,” they wrote.
Another user shared, “Used car market is shot right now because manufacturers are now catching up with demand. So no, 15-20k off MSRP is more realistic.”
Used car prices are falling
According to Car ageThe used car market is currently overwhelmingly favored by buyers. This is due to a surplus of models constantly piling up. More inventory ultimately means more cars available for customers.
So while car dealerships were booming during the chip shortage, overcharging buyers, the tide has now turned. Consumers find themselves at the receiving end of a variety of calculations. That means the commenter could be right about knocking even more off the 2025 Aviator's MSRP.
The outlet said that while used car prices are indeed falling, that doesn't mean loan interest rates are improving. “Unfortunately, high interest rates … keep buyers away, with average used car loan rates north of 14% APR,” it said.
New or used way to go?
Several pieces said used car price inventories are piling up. It would then make sense for consumers to try to buy used cars. however, Cars.com Says a new vehicle in 2024 is a smart purchase.
“Data show[s] 2024 could be a buyer's market if you want to buy new,” they wrote. “New-car inventories rose 36% year over year, close to inventory levels in February 2021 before the pandemic shortages really started to hit.”
But some brands get more love than others, according to the website. Those that last longer can probably be sold for a better bargain. The site penned: “Vehicles are sitting at dealerships longer — 65 days on average, up 41% from the same period a year ago — and as that happens, dealers are more willing to move them.”
Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, Kias and Hyundais generally outsell other car brands. According to Chrysler Whip, Cars.com125 days on the website on average. The site indicated that now is a great time to buy a new EV.
