Eagles News: A bold prediction for Jalen Hurts against the Browns
Let's get to it Philadelphia Eagles Link…
NFL Week 6 picks, schedule, odds, injuries, fantasy tips – ESPN
Bold prediction: Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will throw three or more touchdowns. With Brown and Smith back and Philadelphia bye, I think the Eagles' passing game will find its rhythm against the singles-heavy Browns. [BLG Note: Hurts’ last game with at least three passing touchdowns came against the Arizona Cardinals late last season. He’s thrown for at least three passing touchdowns in eight of his 60 career starts. The last QB with at least three passing touchdowns against the Browns was C.J. Stroud in the playoffs last season.] […] Stats to know: Deshaun Watson has 21 total QBRs this season, the fourth-lowest QBR total through a team's first five games out of 480 QBs since ESPN introduced the metric in 2006.
Eagles vs. Browns game preview: 5 questions and answers with the enemy – BGN
5 – Who won this game and why? The Eagles are currently listed as 8.5-point home favorites, what's your score prediction? And then what do you expect from the rest of this brown season? The Browns can't even score 20 points on offense. I don't have a score prediction yet, but I don't expect Cleveland to win a game until they prove they can have some semblance of an identity on offense. I think the only hope I have this week is that Philly really fell off late last season and Jalen Hurts struggles with turnovers. When you have two teams that unexpectedly shoot themselves in the foot, maybe that opens the door for Cleveland to break out of their slump. I'm hoping the Browns get a boost when Chubb returns, but I can't be too optimistic with Watson being the main guy. There is one potential saving grace: Cleveland has yet to play in a division game. If something somehow clicks, AFC North could technically still be up for grabs.
Can the Browns save their season on Sunday? – Dawgs by nature
The Eagles are coming off their bye week and star wide receiver AJ Brown is returning from injury. For the Browns, injuries have limited the team in practice as Denzel Ward is battling a hamstring injury that has kept him out of practice this week. If the Browns lose another game, it will effectively end any playoff hopes. While that won't mathematically eliminate them, the prospect of this team going 9-2 is unlikely with the schedule ahead.
DeVonta Smith weighs in on the hit that hit him – NBCSP
Devonta Smith cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and spoke publicly Friday for the first time since his injury in New Orleans. It was a scary sight at the Superdome on Sept. 22 when a hit by Saints DL Christian Boyd in the fourth quarter left Smith frustrated. Did Smith think that hit was dirty? “No, I don't think it was dirty or anything,” Smith said Friday. “He didn't hit me in the head or anything like that. More so, I think I should have blown the whistle.” Boyd was fined $4,665 by the NFL for the late hit (unnecessary roughness) after not being fined on the field. Normally, a hit on a defenseless receiver carries a fine of $16,883 but the penalty for the first offense is one week. A player's salary cannot exceed 10% of the cap, which is why Boyd's fine was so low.
A film about Philly's mightiest 'underdogs,' brought to you by Jason Kells and Connor Barwin – Inquirer
Following the success of the Prime Video documentary Kells, former Philadelphia Eagles Connor Barwin and Jason Kells are dipping their toes into filmmaking. But instead of the jitters on the gridiron, they captured a different kind of Philly sports story. They're focusing on South Philly's Vere gymnastics team in the short documentary Underdogs , which premiered at the Philadelphia Film Festival on Oct. 22. The 26-minute film spotlights the triumphs of an underfunded gymnastics squad as they overcome challenges to the completion of the historic but dilapidated Vare Recreation Center in 2022.
Spadaro: Adam Berry hopes to have the last laugh on twin brother Browns GM Andrew this Sunday – PE.com
It's a full-circle moment for Eagles vice president of football operations and strategy Adam Berry, who will again compete Sunday against his twin brother, Andrew, general manager of the Cleveland Browns. It's been like this all their lives – love is full of support, praise, encouragement and of course the game of football. More than anything, though, competition. Intense competition. “That's always the case with us,” Adam says with a laugh in his office at the Novacare complex. “We have it in us.”
Commanders vs. Ravens Friday Injury Report: Brian Robinson Decision to Play Again – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders had their last practice of the week, and announced their injury report for Sunday's away game against the Baltimore Ravens. Rookie safety Tyler Owens is the only player out, missing his second game with a shin injury. Brian Robinson is dealing with a knee injury that kept him out of practice all week. He only practiced once last week, and was considered a game-time decision, and Dan Quinn said that will be his status again this week. He is listed as questionable, and Quinn said it seems like a short-term problem and they won't keep him there if there are long-term concerns.
5 things to watch when the Cowboys play the Lions on Sunday – Blogging The Boys
1. A tough test ahead for the run defense. It's been nice to see the Cowboys' run defense improve over the past few weeks, but the challenge they face this week will be tough. The Lions feature a dynamic tandem of running backs in David Montgomery and Jahmir Gibbs. Montgomery delivers a consistent punch and Gibbs will hit you with his explosiveness. Since joining the Lions last year, Montgomery has the fourth-best rushing success rate while Gibbs has the sixth-best explosive run rate (courtesy of NextgenStats). The duo combined for nearly 140 yards per game on the ground. The Cowboys defense will need to do a better job of holding down the middle and be physical at tackle. If defenders fail to fill gaps or miss tackles, it could be a long day for the defense.
Giants injury news: Malik Nabers out, Devin Singletary, Jamie Gillan questionable – Big Blue View
New York Giants owner Malik Nabers will be without receiver against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football, as the star rookie has yet to clear concussion protocol. Head coach Brian Double delivered the bad, but not unexpected, news during his comments before Friday's practice. Nabers' outlook appeared dim when Double said Thursday that he had not progressed into the concussion protocol since Wednesday. Observers of Thursday's practice noted that Nabers was simply riding the stationary bike on the side during the field portion of practice. Nabers suffered the concussion late in the fourth quarter of the Giants' Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. Nabers went to the ground hard while trying to catch a pass along the sideline on 4th down. He was immediately taken off the field and into the blue medical tent for evaluation. Sunday will mark the 17th day Nabers has been in concussion protocol.
