Donald Glover cancels remaining Childish Gambino tour dates due to health concerns

Multi-hyphenate Donald Glover announced on social media Friday that he will be canceling the remaining dates of his Childish Gambino tour due to health issues.

In a post on X, the musician-writer-actor-director-producer said he was hospitalized due to illness after his show in New Orleans.

“After evaluation, it became clear that I would not be performing that night, and after further testing, I would not be able to make the rest of the US tour at the time requested,” he wrote. “So far I have surgery scheduled and need time to heal.”

The news comes a month after Glover shared in a post on X that he would have to postpone the tour to “focus” on his physical health.

Glover did not disclose additional information about his specific health concerns in his statement Friday. A spokesman for Glover did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Grammy Award-winning “This Is America” ​​singer called the decision to cancel tour dates in North America, the U.K. and Europe “difficult.” But, he wrote, “my road to recovery is something I have to deal with seriously.”

He said, all tickets will be refunded.

Fans were surprised and excited to see Childish Gambino back on stage after Glover announced a new tour in May.

Glover, who is behind a “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” series reboot for Amazon Prime, previously said his 2018 tour will be “the last Childish Gambino tour.”

In May, Glover released the album “Atavista”, a remastered version of his 2020 project “3.15.20”. He then announced the tour, which will begin in August, under the name “The New World Tour”. “Bando Stone and the New World,” his final Children's Gambino album, was released in July.

Glover has several other upcoming projects, including Peacock's “Community: The Movie” and “Mufasa: The Lion King.”

In her post on Friday, the artist requested “love, privacy and support” as she focuses on her health.
