Dolphins QB Huntley has a shoulder injury

INDIANAPOLIS — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tyler Huntley suffered a right shoulder injury and did not return in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Huntley was concussed as he threw an incomplete pass midway through the third quarter and was carried back to the Dolphins' locker room by a member of the team's medical staff. Backup quarterback Tim Boyle, who was signed to Miami's active roster Saturday, stepped in his place.

Boyle completed 8 of 13 passes for 74 yards.

Sunday marked Huntley's third start of the season as the Dolphins' instability at the quarterback position silenced the NFL's top offense from a season ago. Starter Tua Tagovailoa, who signed a four-year, $212.1 million deal this offseason, spent the past four games on injured reserve after suffering a concussion in Week 2.

Third-year quarterback Skylar Thompson initially started in place of Tagovailoa but went down with a rib injury in Miami's loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 and has not played since. Thompson is the team's emergency quarterback and Boyle will be eligible for Sunday's game.

Before his injury, Huntley completed 7 of 13 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown to Johnnu Smith — his first passing TD of the season.
