The New York Mets are officially on the ropes after another dominant performance from the Los Angeles Dodgers in their 10-2 Game 4 win on Thursday. With the Dodgers holding a 3-1 series lead, en route to their fourth World Series in the last eight seasons, the Mets could go down in their final 27 outs if they can't produce the offensive display that won them. Their Game 2 is 7-3. In the first four games of the series, Los Angeles outscored New York 30–9.
In Game 5, the Dodgers have Jack Flaherty on the mound, with the righty looking to continue his postseason success (1-1, 2.92 ERA, 8 SO, 12.1 IP). Meanwhile, the Mets are pinning their hopes on lefty David Peterson, who has been solid for New York in brief outings this October (1-0, 2.08 ERA, 5 SO, 8.2 IP).

Mets 10, Dodgers 5
Interesting… Andy Pages hits his second home run of the day with his second bat flip of the day, and this game is even closer. You still want to be in Matt's position, but it's no longer a casual day at the office
Kiké Hernández took a 97.1 mph sinker to the right bicep from Reed Garrett and was definitely in some pain, but he faced the rock and stayed in.
Some Citi Field fans enjoyed seeing it after Honeywell's two HBPs.
The fun part for the Mets with this game is that the rest of this series doesn't set up well for the Dodgers. Unless they want to start both Walker Buehler and Yoshinobu Yamamoto on short rest in Games 6 and 7, this is going to be a bullpen game in Game 6 against Sean Manaea, who was great in Game 2.
And anything can happen in Game 7, which would be Buehler or Yamamoto vs. Luis Severino. It was a low-key game for the Dodgers after deciding to start Flaherty instead of playing the bullpen game today.
Mets 10, Dodgers 2
It's a stark contrast to the score in Game 4 after a sac fly from Brandon Nimmo.
Brent Honeywell Jr. also hit Tyrone Taylor. It's certainly not intentional, but he's not making any friends with the Mets today.
Mets 9, Dodgers 2
Jesse Winker hit a triple, and Pete Alonso halved and puffed to score from first. Still no outs for the Mets in the bottom of the fourth. The Dodgers are trying to get through this game without using their top relievers at this point.
Brent Honeywell Jr. took over mop-up duties for Flaherty in the fourth. He hit Pete Alonso with a 93 mph fastball on his second pitch.
Goes for a big chance for the Dodgers. Freddie Freeman worked the count to full, then Reed Garrett caught the outside corner with just a curveball to limit the damage in the fourth on Page's homer.
It might be too bad for the Mets, but they're still big in Game 5.
The Dodgers' 35 walks are the most in a 5-game postseason
And then David Peterson walks Teoscar Hernandez with two outs to load the bases. The Mets pulled him after 79 pitches (the first time he threw more than 50 since September 29) and brought in Reed Garrett to face Freddie Freeman.
Shohei Ohtani followed with a bloop single and Mookie Betts walked The Mets probably don't want to let the Dodgers get back into this game.
Some lively discussion after Homer as well. Pages may have had something to do with his bat flip.
Mets 8, Dodgers 2
Andy Pages doesn't care what the score is. The Dodgers rookie No. 9 hitter clubbed a 418-foot homer to center field to cut the lead to six runs.
The third inning ended, with the Mets in full control in a five-run frame. The Dodgers offense scored more than eight runs yesterday, but they may be ready to try and take the series home.
Mets 8, Dodgers 1
Another one from Brandon Nimmo. Considering how the Dodgers have approached each postseason game, it's impossible to explain away Flaherty as a white flag.
Mets 7, Dodgers 1
Francisco Lindor followed with a stand-up triple. The Mets went 7-for-15 against Jack Flaherty after going 2-for-22 in Game 1 with four walks.
Mets 6, Dodgers 1
Francisco Alvarez added another, and it was all Mets at Citi Field. It looks like the series is heading back to Los Angeles.
Anthony Banda was warming up, but he's sitting in the bullpen. The Dodgers could let Flaherty wear it instead of working their bullpen with two elimination games while Los Angeles is likely on tap.
Mets 5, Dodgers 1
It's getting worse in a hurry for the Dodgers. Starling Marte fired a grounder down the third-base line and made Flaherty pay for his two walks. Flaherty faced 15 batters and allowed five hits, four walks and five runs.
Jack Flaherty totaled two swing-and-misses through 14 batters. He allowed a leadoff walk to Pete Alonso in the third after Alonso stuck two low curveballs and took another good foul down the zone to go up 0-2. Jesse Winker then walked on four pitches.
