Miami Dolphins running back D'Von Achen is out for Week 2 due to an ankle injury. However, the second-year back will suit up Thursday night when his Dolphins face the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium as he is officially active. Aachen worked on his injured ankle during pregame warmups and will definitely play.

Aachen was listed on the club's injury report as a non-participant on Monday and Tuesday but was limited on Wednesday. That positive trajectory to wrap up the week of practice has fueled optimism that he can play head-to-head in the AFC East. Aachen suffered the injury in Miami's Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. In that winning effort, he ran for 24 yards and a touchdown and caught all seven of his targets for 76 yards.

The Dolphins are without fellow top back Raheem Mostert with a chest injury. Achan should carry the lion's share of the Miami backfield, but Jeff Wilson Jr. and rookie Jaylen Wright, who was inactive Sunday, will likely have roles as well.

Injuries have been a part of Aachen's story to start his career in the NFL. As a rookie in 2023, he burst onto the scene and was impressive. The 22-year-old averaged 7.8 yards per carry and tallied 800 yards with eight touchdowns in 11 games. He also caught 197 yards receiving on 27 balls and three more scores. However, he lost time due to a knee injury. As of now in 2024, he has yet to put those sustainability concerns to rest.
