D.C.-area forecast: Still dreary before sun returns Thursday into the weekend
Today (Tuesday): The last of Helene’s moisture is slinking east across the area. Most showers are light and scattered, but the humidity is hair-curling. Fortunately, highs are only in the mid- to upper 60s with a light breeze from the northeast. Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: A few showers are still expected to linger in the area, and overcast skies are a given. Winds calm and lows slip to the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): A dying cool front approaches the area and is just enough to keep the clouds in place. With plenty of humidity still around, a light shower could pop up at any time, although much of the day could end up dry. Highs are mainly upper 60s to low 70s with very little breeze. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: Shower chances diminish even further, but clouds will probably hang tough through the night. Lows should drop into the 50s across the area. Confidence: Medium-High
A look ahead
Thursday and Friday will probably have some clouds, but a good deal of sunshine should be back to brighten our spirits. Humidity is still moderate, though it should feel fine with highs in the 70s. Thursday and Friday night lows slip to the mid-50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium-High
Can’t rule out a shower late Friday or early Saturday as a cold front comes through. Otherwise sunshine looks even more plentiful this weekend as drier air settles in. The sliver of a crescent moon and Venus should be delightfully displayed on the western horizon as dusk settles both nights. Highs are mainly in the 70s with lows ranging through the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High
