Chappelle Rhone reveals why she told photographer to 'shut the f–k up' at 2024 VMAs
Chappelle Rhone has revealed why she yelled at a photographer to “shut the f–k up” while being photographed on the VMAs 2024 red carpet.
The 26-year-old – who walked home with a glittering award for best new artist – initially shied away from the flashing lights as she tried to pre-prime her medieval outfit before being photographed.
But while getting ready, he quickly turned around and cursed a cameraman.
The “Red Wine Supernova” hitmaker pointed at herself before telling the paparazzi, “I'm not a b-h.”
“For anyone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrible, and I screamed,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight. “You don't yell at me like that.”
“Good luck, baby!” The singer admitted she was “nervous” ahead of her first VMA performance during a red carpet interview.
“There's a lot of technical stuff going on that I've never done, but we've practiced a lot of times. I think this is the next step in my career, so I was like, 'Dang, OK, it's nice to be here,'” she said.
Despite raising eyebrows with her heated exchange on the carpet, singer Noah Kahan has thrown her support behind Rowan.
“I'll never forget leaving Clive Davis and the creepy photographers and paparazzi or whatever he said to me in front of my sweet mom who couldn't believe it was actually happening. Love this @ChappellRoan way of standing up for yourself,” Kahan wrote on X.
At the star-studded awards ceremony, Rowan treated fans and celebrities to a fiery performance of her summer hit “Good Luck, Babe” before accepting the award for Best New Artist.
In his acceptance speech, the singer read an excerpt from his diary.
“I'm dedicating it to all the drag artists who inspire me,” Rowan said, “to the gays who dedicate my songs to someone they love or hate.”
Before her big win, the singer said she had never taken home an award before.
“I've never won anything so it's going to be awesome. It's going to be cool,” Rowan said on the red carpet.
The musician received four nominations, including Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year for “Red Wine Supernova,” “Hot To Go!” The best trending videos for and “Good luck, babe!” There are summer songs for that.
