NFL Rumors: Tom Brady Expected To Be Approved As Raiders Minority Owner After Vote
Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is poised to be approved as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders at the upcoming NFL fall owners meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
After reviewing Brady's bid, the NFL Finance Committee plans to present it to the other owners for a vote. Brady would need the approval of 24 of the 32 votes to move forward.
As a source explained to ESPN, Brady's bid will not be brought to a vote unless it is expected to be approved.
With Brady's ownership approval still pending, the future Hall of Famer could face “severe” limitations on his broadcast career with Fox, according to ESPN's Seth Wickersham.
“The league confirmed to ESPN that among the restrictions, Brady will not be allowed to be in other team's facilities, will not be allowed to witness practices and will not be allowed to participate in broadcast production meetings in person or virtually,” Wickersham wrote.
Brady will face a severe lack of access to coaches and players if approved.
“Meetings where a broadcast crew meets with the matchup's head coach and key players are often the lifeblood of insight for the telecast,” continued Wickersham.
If approved, Brady will buy about 10 percent of the Raiders from controlling owner Mark Davis along with businessman Tom Wagner.
“We're excited for Tom to join the Raiders,” Davis told ESPN's Paul Gutierrez during the initial signing in May 2023. And it's exciting because he'll be the third player in National Football League history to own one.”
Brady is currently in his first 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox after he retires from the NFL in 2023.
