Bill Maher's Chappell Ron: 'Hamas Will Throw You Off the Roof in Gaza'

Real Time host Bill Maher tried to educate singer Chappelle Ron about the reality of Gaza and the terrorist group Hamas during a recently aired episode of his show Saturday night.

Chappelle Rhone, a singer with more than 3 billion views on Spotify, said she turned down an invitation to the White House Pride celebration to protest America's policies, demanding “freedom, justice and freedom for all…for all oppressed people in occupied territories.”

While Maher praised Rowan in the interview that he felt it was worth evaluating the principles of the left as well as the critical principles of the right, he noted, “Getting all your history from TikTok is like getting all your calories. [the snack food brand] Hostess.”

He explained that it was understandable that he and his generation were moved by the casualties in Gaza.

However, he added, “It's strange that your generation doesn't seem nearly as moved by Jewish bodies on October 7… Doesn't the sight of so many young women being raped at a music festival make it a little personal? My guess is that Jen-Z's heart is hardened by the propaganda you see on TikTok, which likes to call Jews colonizers.”

Homeland of the Jews

Maher then explains what colonialism means and that Israel is “the homeland of the Jews and the Jews have always lived there… To call the Jews colonized in Israel is like calling the Native Americans colonized here. It's ridiculous.”

Describing the 1947 United Nations partition plan that would have established a Jewish side-by-side Arab state, Maher noted that “one side” — the Jews — accepted the proposal but “the Arabs had a slightly different proposal. They said, 'How about we keep all and delete you?'

Quoting from some of his explicit lyrics about sex, Maher told him, “That wouldn't fly in Gaza. You will though, straight from the roof.”

He added, “Chappell, if you thought it was oppressive growing up in the Midwest, try the Middle East… You're not wrong that oppression is bad or that Palestinians and many other Muslim populations are oppressed and deserve to be freed. . Who is oppressing is completely up to you. Hamas is a terrorist mafia that has taken over Gaza … they are the oppressors. And when you make it about Israel, you take the pressure off them. You enable them.”

Concluding this open letter, he said, “You are a singer, and you speak for a place and a culture that you would never want to live under. Gender cannot be binary, but right and wrong.”

Maher is one of the few US talk-show hosts who has consistently pointed to the contradictions of the US left's support for terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, particularly evident in campus protests, as well as the implications of these so-called progressives. The Islamic Republic supports Iran, which funds these groups.

Last spring, she challenged the US left to protest gender apartheid, a term used to describe the subjugation of women in Iran, Afghanistan and other countries. “A million women are treated worse than second-class citizens. When you decree that a class of people don't even have the right to show their faces, that's apartheid. And it goes on in many countries,” she said.
