Martha Stewart admits she had an affair while married but ex 'never knew'
Martha Stewart is getting real.
The lifestyle guru admitted in the trailer for her new Netflix documentary “Martha” that she had an affair during her decades-long marriage to her only husband, Andrew Stewart.
“Young lady, listen to my advice, if you're married and your husband starts cheating on you, he's a piece of —,” the 83-year-old said in the trailer. “Get out of this marriage.”
“Didn't you have an early relationship?” A producer can be heard as a home and garden maven.

“Yeah, but I don't think Andy knew about it,” Stewart replied.
The new documentary covers Stewart's marriage, her rise in the lifestyle industry and her legal troubles.
“What does it mean to be the first female self-made billionaire in history?” Stewart questions himself rhetorically at the start of the trailer before laughing.
He added in the trailer that he was “thought crazy” as his career converged, “but it worked.”

“I'm tough, and I'm demanding, and I'm all the good things that make a successful person,” she added.
Someone in the trailer says that while these qualities are great for a businessman, Stewart was characterized as a “b—–“.

“It all inspired me tremendously,” Stewart admitted of being called a b—.
“I don't think Andy knew about it.”
Stewart, a former model, worked as a stockbroker and then started a catering business in the 1970s which led to her first cookbook, “Entertaining” in 1982. More cookbooks followed, and she began appearing on TV.
Her magazine, Martha Stewart Living, published its first issue in the winter of 1990.
But at the height of his success in 2004, he was charged and convicted of several counts, including conspiracy, securities fraud and obstruction of justice. He served five months in a minimum security federal prison.
“I was a trophy for these idiots,” Stewart claimed in the documentary. “I was dragged away in solitary. No food or water. Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and turned on high.”

He said that after getting out of prison, he had to “get out of a hole” professionally, but in his mid-80s, the lifestyle icon remained relevant from his friendship with Snoop Dogg and posting thirsty snaps on social media. For the continued success of its brand.
“What's more important? Marriage or career?” He posited in the documentary.
After a producer told him, “You tell me,” Stewart replied, “I don't know.”
“Cookie-cutter homes and cookie-cutter lives weren't for me,” she said in the trailer. “I could have just been a miser, a housewife, but I didn't let that happen to myself and I'm so glad I didn't.”

The former couple married in 1961 and divorced in 1990. Their only daughter, Alexis, 59, has followed in her mother's footsteps as a radio and TV host with her mother's brand.
In a 2020 interview with People magazine, Stewart admitted that the divorce was difficult for her.
“Getting divorced was a scary thing for me, because we were the first in my family to divorce,” she said. “And we didn't talk because the divorce was more painful. But I'm very strong, and I'm very motivated to get on with life.”
