Jessica Chastain pulled after blasting JetBlue over 'embarrassing' $15 refund: 'Read the room'
Oscar winner Jessica Chastain is being slammed on social media after she trashed JetBlue with a $15 credit for her in-flight entertainment.
The “Zero Dark Thirty” actress, 47, hit out at X (formerly Twitter) in a since-deleted post after her “flight entertainment system” malfunctioned during the 6-hour flight.
“Thank you @JetBlue for your $15.00 credit. My flight was $1,500 and the credit is 1/100 of what I paid you,” Chastain's deleted tweet posted on Wednesday read. “Surprisingly I paid for your flight entertainment system. Which didn't work out for the duration of my 6 hour flight, but I guess it was worth it for that $15 credit.”
The star made sure to attach her receipt to the tweet — and she didn't stop there.
After JetBlue X apologized to Chastain, writing, “We're sorry you're disappointed, Jessica. Please send us a DM so we can look into it,” the actress did just that, including a screenshot of the conversation she had already had with the airline's customer service.
When the service agent informed Chastain that she had been issued a $15 credit, she replied, “I understand but I spent $1,500 on the flight and so did my husband. There should be some flight credit or something since I have a TrueBlue account and I'm a loyal customer.” .
When the “Molly's Game” actress demanded to do more, the agent told her, “I'm sorry I can't do more.”
Chastain's allegations drew criticism from online sleuths, who trashed the actress — who recently listed her NYC home for $7.45 million — for publicly dragging the airline. Many Floridians accused him of being “tone-deaf” considering they lost everything in Hurricanes Helen and Hurricanes Milton.
“Read the room,” replied an X user. “Jessica Chastain is so embarrassing,” another responded. A third joked that “getting upset with an airline and blasting them on social media” made Chastain “our modern-day Princess Di.”
But not everyone had a negative reaction to Chastain's tweet. Some users stuck for stars.
Author Louis Pitzman wrote, “Many of you would tweet like Jessica Chastain if you were her level of fame. I know it in my soul.”
Another person said that “it's good that a celebrity is complaining publicly,” claiming, “Airlines have no responsibility when it comes to customer service, experience or even the basics like on time.”
