Henry Cavill charges for 'Volton' at Amazon MGM Studios
DC Universe star Henry Cavill set to headline Amazon MGM's feature adaptation of popular anime Voltron Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.
Cavill joins previously announced star Daniel Quinn-Toyt. Thurber is directing the film from a script he wrote with Ellen Shanman. The story is being kept secret. Deadline first told you about Amazon winning MGM Studios Voltron Project in a tender in 2022.
Voltron Based on the 1980s animated TV series that followed a group of space explorers who piloted a giant super robot known as Voltron, and adapted from several Japanese anime TV series by Toei Animation. The series was produced by Peter Keefe and Ted Kopler through their production company World Events Productions. The original television series aired in syndication from September 10, 1984 to November 18, 1985. Its first season Voltron“Lion Force Voltron” featured and was adapted from the series Beast King Golayan. The second season, featuring “Vehicle Team Voltron”, was adapted from an unrelated series Armored Fleet Deiruger XV. Voltron: Defender of the Universe It was the top-rated syndicated children's show for two years during its original run, and its franchise expanded to three follow-up series, several comic books, a line of toys, and eventually videogames.
