Police say the thieves took Buehler's watch

Arcadia, Calif. — Thieves cornered Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler last month and ripped an expensive watch off his wrist, police said Tuesday.

Buhler was not threatened during the Sept. 28 incident at the Santa Anita Park racetrack in the Los Angeles suburb of Arcadia, police said.

Police investigated two other incidents of watch theft on the same day. Police said the victims were all targets of organized gangs who steal high-end watches amid large crowds during events.

This is the second time this year that professional athletes have been robbed in California.

On Aug. 31 in San Francisco, San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall was walking alone to his car after shopping at a luxury store in Union Square when a teenage suspect robbed him at gunpoint of a Rolex watch and other expensive jewelry.
