Jets Fire head coach Robert Saleh
The man who once gave Aaron Rodgers a jar of honey from the Queen's garden recently returned to England and was stung. And now he's doing some random stinging.
2-3 Jets fired coach Robert Saleh, according to multiple reports. Saleh, 45, had a 20-36 record in three-plus seasons on the job.
It feels premature. It feels desperate. It feels ineffective.
Still, someone apparently had to blame for the embarrassment that occurred at the home of out-of-home owner Woody Johnson. The former US ambassador to the United Kingdom (who, we hear, wants to do it again if Donald Trump is re-elected) watched his team fall behind the Vikings 17-0, before rallying and nearly winning but ultimately losing the game.
But for defensive effort – Saleh's specialty – it would have been a blow. The Jets held the Vikings to 17 offensive points. A week ago, Denver scored just 10 runs.
Crime is the problem. And while Saleh was the head coach, Woody essentially turned the offense over to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett to coach Buff. They added multiple player BFFs in Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard. They are currently exploring whether to add Rodgers' ultimate BFF, receiver Davante Adams.
The offense is a shit show. Rodgers looks old. Above 40 years of age. He misses a year but seems like he's been sleeping under a tree for twenty years.
But dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional work. And leave it to the most dysfunctional ownership group to blame a defensive head coach for the misguided decision to go all-in with Aaron Rodgers.
In fact, Jets fans should expect Trump to win. If that takes Woody out of the mix, they could have another four years to try to fix things. Before he comes back again of course.
