Tesla is releasing predictions for the Model 2 Robotaxi event
Gene Munster and Brian Baker from Deepwater share their exceptions for Tesla's Robotaxi event. TSLA analysts predict the company will unveil a stripped-down Model 3 during the Robotaxi event.
Deepwater analysts believe Tesla will Uncover three vehicles During the 'We, Robot' event: the Model 2, the Cybervan, and the CyberCab or Robotaxis.
Munster theorizes that the Model 2 will be a stripped-down version of the Model 3 because Elon Musk delayed Tesla's Robotaxi event to make “significant changes”“ from mE Cybercab vehicles. TSLA Bull argues that if Musk continues to make changes to the design of the CyberCab (aka Robotaxi), production will also be delayed.
in recent times Notes of deep waterMunster and Baker wrote that Tesla will likely focus on near-production vehicles for the event but tease upcoming products like the Cybervan and Optimus. Munster expects Tesla Model 2 production to begin in late 2025, which he notes is later than Elon Musk estimated during the Q2 2024 earnings call.
“We won't go too much into the product roadmap here as that is reserved for product announcement events. But we're on track to deliver a more affordable model in the first half of next year,” Musk said in the second quarter.
Model 2 is expected to start at $25,000. Below are Munster's expectations for the Robotaxi, Model 2 and Cybervan
1. Robotaxis: I hope we see a physical prototype of Robotaxi. We also believe the model will have a futuristic feel like a Cybertruck without a steering wheel, pedals or mirrors. Additionally, the release will include a “demo”. Tesla shows off its autonomous capabilities by being summoned by a ride-hailing app and driving any type of track or route.
2. Model 2: The $25k Model 2 (aka Model A) will be previewed without a working prototype. I hope this vehicle Will share similarities with robotaxis. Model 2 will have a steering wheel, pedals and mirrors, not requiring FSD to operate. The body can be separated from the robotaxis, but overall will have the same production as the robotaxis.
3. Cybervan: A similar surprise The updated Roadster Semi is driving behind the Semi at the launchI hope Elon unveils plans for a fully autonomous passenger van (the Robotaxi XL for 8-10 people). While the passenger van will be lightweight in Tesla's signature design, it will be heavy for autonomy benefits for a ride-hailing vision of affordable transportation. This vehicle will be focused on dense urban areas and could play a role in future public transport, which we estimate will expand the ride-hailing addressable market by 20%.
