Travis Kelce reveals what Patrick Mahomes was really doing in his Kelce car jam

Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany were among the stars who descended on Kansas City Saturday for a charity event for teammate and close friend Travis Kelce — but the quarterback's attention was seemingly elsewhere.

The Chiefs star showed support for his team-mate Kells Car Jam and celebrated his 35th birthday over the weekend.

But Mahomes had another reason during Saturday evening's charity event.

The Kansas City Royals open their ALDS series against the New York Yankees as playoff baseball returns to the Bronx.

And Kelce revealed that Mahomes, a big Royals fan, was anxiously watching their fellow Kansas City sports team during the charity event.

'We've got Pat Mahomes back in there somewhere,' Kelce said from the stage. 'He's stuck with his royals right now.'

While Kells' event was a success, the same cannot be said for the Royals. In a tight, dramatic thriller in New York, Kansas City lost the series opener 6-5.

Monday night will be Game 2 in the Bronx when Bobby Witt Jr. and co. Hope to tie the series before heading back to Kansas City.

Meanwhile, proceeds from the charity block party are going to Kells' 87 and Running Foundation, which raises funds for children in Kansas City and Cleveland.

Patrick and Brittany were there to show their support at the second annual Kells Car Jam, a volunteer car showcase for Chief Starr and his friends.

The Chiefs quarterback is close friends with his tight end, while Brittany has developed a strong bond with Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, over the past year.

The Royals eventually lost to the New York Yankees 6-5 in the opening game of the ALDS.

The couple was greeted by dozens of fans as they arrived at the charity event in Kansas City.

Kelce and Mahomes will be back on the field Monday, when the Chiefs take on the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium.

It's the first time Jason Kelce has called a game involving his younger brother since the former Eagles center joined ESPN as an NFL analyst.

Jason and his parents, Donna and Ed Kells, arrived at the charity event shortly before Mahomes. Kansas City defensive end George Karlaftis was also spotted in the Kells car jam.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes arrived in a black Ferrari but Kelce planned to show off the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle he drove Swift around Kansas City last year.

'This year is the second year we've had a car show, basically a block-party style event, which will showcase some of the city's top automobiles from Fuel House, a fun car club here,' says Kells.

'And then I guess a bunch of others lined up. It's going to be fun. I should have my old school '70 Chevelle all reved up and ready to rock and roll. If not, I will bring another car I have.'

Kells and Swift have been on several doubles dates, including last month's US Open final, when the pair watched Taylor Fritz defeat Janick Sinner in the men's final at Flushing Meadows.
