The video shows flames coming from the Frontier flight after landing in Las Vegas
Video shows flames coming from the bottom of a Frontier flight that made a hard landing in Las Vegas Saturday after reports of smoke in the cockpit, officials said.
Flight 1326 was en route from San Diego to Las Vegas when “the pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency,” Frontier said in a statement.
Smoke was reported in the cockpit before the Airbus 321 was able to make an emergency landing at Harry Reid International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The airport was the intended destination of the flight.
Amanda Mazzagatti, airport program administrator at Harry Reid, said the flight “experienced a hard landing” and the Clark County Fire Department responded immediately.
The aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew members on board were evacuated using the aircraft stairs. They were then taken to the terminal by bus.
According to the airline and airport, no casualty has been reported.
This incident happened at 4:20 pm local time. A ground stop was in effect at the airport until 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the FAA.
Videos of the incident posted on social media showed the plane spinning on the tarmac and flames and smoke appeared to be coming from under the plane near its wheels. Thick smoke trail behind.
In the video, fire trucks can be seen pulling up to the plane and spraying to put out the flames.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. The FAA is investigating.
