Trisha Yearwood unloads 'amazing' Tennessee home for $3.3M – day before Garth Brooks rape case shocks
Trisha Yearwood has sold the Tennessee mansion she and husband Garth Brooks shared for nearly a million more than they originally asked — just a day before the country crooner's former hairstylist and makeup artist sued her for sexual assault and rape.
The 6,553-square-foot home in Brentwood, Tennessee, has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms and is described as a “sanctuary of sophistication and tranquility,” according to the listing.
The couple sold the home for $3.334 million on Tuesday before the shock allegations — which the “Friends in Low Places” singer very publicly denied.
The 4.42-acre property was first listed for sale in May 2023 for $4.5 million. It was previously on the market in 2014. The listing shows the price dropping to $3.950 million in April and dropping again to $3.8 million in September.
Yearwood, 60, bought the home in 2000, five years before she and Brooks, 62, tied the knot in 2005, according to Realtor.com.
The sprawling property is described in its listing as an “extraordinary historic estate” set in the heart of “pristine, private grounds”.
The listing also mentions two gated entrances, as well as nine surveillance cameras placed throughout the property.
On Thursday, news broke that a woman who claims she was Brooks' hair stylist and makeup artist has accused her of rape and battery — but the Country Music Awards winner maintains her innocence.
He likened the accusation to “waving a loaded gun” in his face.
A lawsuit filed Thursday in a California court by a woman identified only as “Jane Roe” alleges that Brooks raped her in a hotel room, where she was alone and felt “trapped” by the artist.
At the time, in May 2019, the couple allegedly traveled alone on his private jet to Los Angeles for a Grammy taping.
The alleged victim was first hired as a hair and makeup artist for Yearwood in 1999, but was then transferred to the Brooks team in 2017, the lawsuit states.
In addition to the sexual assault and battery, Brooks is accused of repeatedly exposing her genitals and buttocks, talking about sex and sharing sexual fantasies with Rowe, regularly changing her clothes in front of her and sending her sexually explicit text messages, the lawsuit said, according to CNN. Received by.
The lawsuit alleges that these incidents occurred in 2019.
“We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,” attorney Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker said in a statement to CNN
Brooks previously denied his accuser's allegations and tried to block Roe from publicly repeating his allegations, according to an earlier complaint he filed as “John Doe,” according to CNN.
He claims that Roe's legal representation sent him a “confidential” demand letter after denying his request for “paid employment and medical benefits,” the outlet reported. But Roe's attorneys contend the pretrial indictment was an act of desperation to intimidate and silence his accuser.
CNN reported that in a statement from her publicist, Brooks said she filed the complaint anonymously about a month ago “in the interests of both families” and to speak out against extortion and defamation of character.
“For the past two months, I have had no end of threats, lies and sad stories about what my future will be if I don't write a multi-million dollar check. It was like shoving a loaded gun in my face,” the star explained.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. To me, that means I'm condoning behavior that I'm incapable of doing — ugly things that no human being should ever do to another.”
Brooks added that he wants to focus on his career and playing music and doing “good work”, but his heart is “broken” by the questioning of his integrity.
“I believe in the system, I'm not afraid of the truth, and I'm not the man they've painted me as,” he concluded.
