the joker: Folie à DeuxThe sequel to the 2019 Joaquin Phoenix film, scored an unfavorable Rotten Tomatoes as more critics released their reviews of the film.
Initial reactions to the premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September were mixed, with some calling it “intelligent” or “confusing” and others finding it “dull” and “laborious”.
Critics praised the film independentof Geoffrey McNabb, who gave it a four-star verdict and wrote: “The darkness at the core of the film is underlined by its extremely brutal ending, which rejects comic book conventions in favor of psychological depth.
“Phoenix's performance is powerful and stirring. The genius of it is that we can't help but care about Arthur despite his lack and instability.”
A musical film starring Lady Gaga as the Joker's sidekick and love interest, Harley Quinn, received a modest score of 61 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, as reported ForbesPlacing it as having the same score as widely mocked Black Adam.
It's now down to just 39 percent as most critics put the boot on the story, songs and much-hyped ending.
The consensus review on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing is: “Joaquin Phoenix's eponymous Joker lands a sequel that dances around while the story stands still, though Lady Gaga's wildcard energizes it. Folie à Deux Something scary.”
New York Times Critic Manohia Dargis wrote: “About big non-news Folie à Deux It's a half-baked, half-hearted musical complete with one star who can sing, Lady Gaga as Lee Quinzel aka Harley Quinn, and another (Phoenix) who can't or won't.”
For Audrey Fox Looper Said: “Even the devotees the joker Not likely to find much to redeem this chaotic, deeply stupid mess.”

Its Richard Roper Chicago-Sun Times Said in his review: “There's always a joker, there's always a clown — but if he doesn't transform into something bigger, bolder and scarier, it'll be like we've seen this show before, just without the musical numbers.”
For Kevin Maher The Times The film was described as “messy, lifeless, derivative and exactly what you'd expect from a film that simply doesn't want or need to exist”.
A more favorable review has been seen for Danny Ley The Financial Times Call it less “unlikable than its progenitor” while Ireland's RTE said: “The film is effortlessly claustrophobic, dreamily surreal and all the better for it.”
Phoenix is going to be the last film for the Joker. After the premiere, a reporter asked Phoenix about her weight loss for the film, which she said was “more complicated” than the 2019 original.
For the first Joker, Phoenix lost 52 pounds to achieve the iconic look of the main character and achieved this by eating a diet consisting mainly of steamed vegetables and lettuce.
Phoenix was hesitant to reveal specifics about his diet this time, telling reporters: “I'm not going to talk about the specifics of the diet.”
However, she said that losing weight for the sequel felt “a bit more complicated” “because there was a lot of dance rehearsal that we were doing, which I didn't do last time”.
