Netflix cancels 'That '90s Show' after two seasons, Kurtwood Smith says: 'We'll be shopping the show'
The 90s are officially over.
“That '90s Show,” the follow-up series to “That '90s Show,” has been canceled on Netflix after two seasons, franchise star Curtwood Smith wrote on Instagram Thursday night.
“I know you've been asking me when season 3 is coming out, but I have hard news…Netflix will not be renewed,” Smith, who plays Red Forman, wrote on Instagram. “I just want to take a minute to thank all the fans who have supported and watched the show. You come to me in random parts of the world while I'm traveling and reach out to me through social media and are so awesome. I loved every minute of bringing Dada Lal to life for all of you. I've said it before but it's worth mentioning again…this show had a lot of heart behind it and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and an actor one could ever hope to work with. Thanks to Red and Kitty, their grandchildren, all their great-grandchildren friends and neighbors, the original cast members of That 70's Show and all our wonderful guest cast members for entertaining you for two seasons. To steal Red Forman's words…we're not going to be stupid…we'll shop the show, because good grandparents will work hard to see these kids graduate from high school.”
“That '90s Show” brings back Smith from the original “That,” Debra Jo Rupp as Kitty Forman, Laura Prepon as Donna Pinciotti, Topher Grace as Eric Forman, Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso, Wilmer Valderrama as Fez and Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart. brought back '70s Show” cast. The sequel series, set two decades later, follows Leah Forman, daughter of Donna and Eric, as she spends the summer with her grandparents.
The show's 10-episode first season premiered on Netflix in 2023, calling itself Part 1 of the series. Season 2, extended to 16 episodes, concluded in August 2024.
