Firefighters battling raging 4-alarm warehouse fire in Philadelphia's Frankford section

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A four-story warehouse has gone up in flames in the residential area of Frankford in Philadelphia.

The blaze broke out around 5:30 a.m. on Friday in the 1200 block of Adams Avenue and was quickly upgraded to a 4-alarm fire.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy fire throughout the entire building.

Philadelphia Fire Department collapse units have been called to the scene.

Officials said they do not believe the building was occupied when the fire started.

Several vehicles could be seen engulfed in flames, as well as nearby utility poles on fire.

Chopper 6 also saw some nearby cars exploding.

An auto shop is also located near the building.

Nearby neighbors are reporting falling embers.

Heavy smoke could be seen pouring from the inferno.

Trees in a field across the street from the building, near Frankford Creek, also caught fire but were quickly put out.

Several roads are also closed in the area as crews work to get the blaze under control.
