Before the photographer took on a big-screen portrait, Kate Winslet saw herself in Lee Miller's work.

The Academy Award winner recently opened up about proudly displaying a “softer physical version” of herself to portray the legendary photojournalist in the upcoming Ellen Coorus-helmed biopic. LeePremieres in theaters on September 27

After previously revealing that a crew member on set advised her to suck on her stomach to hide her “belly rolls” during a topless scene, Winslet recalled her reaction. “You think I'm not aware you can see that? I just went, 'I'm fine,'” she said the time.

He said of the praise surrounding the “courage” of his response, “It's not courageous. I'm not a former postmaster fighting for justice, I'm not in Ukraine. I'm doing a job that's important to me.”

The actress and longtime advocate for body positivity explained that she was introduced to Miller's work after friends sent her a copy of the photographer's 'Nude Bent Forward,' a black-and-white photo featuring a model with a body similar to Winslet's.

“How many times have I been sent — especially that picture, assuming my butt reminds them of that butt,” she explained. “I am very proud. I enjoy that about myself.”

Winslet said earlier Harper's Bazaar UK that he made a “deliberate” choice to stop exercising before he started Lee. “It's my life on my face, and it's important. It wouldn't occur to me to cover it up,” he explained.

“I think people know better than to say, 'You might want to do something about that scar' … I feel more comfortable with myself as each year goes by. It allows me to vaporize other people's opinions,” adds Winslet.
