This major soup company is changing its name after 155 years

Campbell's Soup Company, a Camden, New Jersey, based company, is changing its name.

After 155 years, the company plans to drop the “soup” from its name to better reflect their diverse product offerings.

Soup is still an important part of Campbell's business, but recently it has made up a smaller proportion of sales.

Campbell has recently acquired snack food brands such as Pepperidge Farms, Schneiders of Hanover, Cape Cod and others.

Also acquired the company behind pasta sauce brand Rao's.

“This subtle yet significant change retains the company's iconic name recognition, reputation and equity built over more than 155 years and better reflects the full breadth of the company's portfolio,” Campbell CEO Mark Klaus announced Tuesday.

Although the company has announced its intention to change the product name, the name is still subject to approval from shareholders who will meet at the company's annual shareholder meeting.
