Anthony Richardson out with injury, Joe Flacco throws TD pass for Colts
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson left the game after taking two hard hits in the first quarter today against the Steelers, but backup Joe Flacco came on and immediately threw a touchdown pass.
The first time Richardson ran the ball, he took a hard hit on Pittsburgh's Minkah Fitzpatrick's hip. Richardson limped off, and Flacco took his place.
Richardson then returned to the game, and Fitzpatrick hit him again on a running play, this time as Richardson tried to slide to avoid contact. Fitzpatrick was not flagged for a concussion, but Richardson was clearly hurt and left the field again, this time walking to the locker room with team medical personnel.
Flacco returned and threw a touchdown pass to Josh Downs to put the Colts up 14-0.
The Colts announced that Richardson will miss the rest of the game with a hip injury.
The Colts are playing very well today, but they may have to go the rest of the way without their young franchise quarterback and with the old veteran who won Comeback Player of the Year last year after going from backup to starter in Cleveland, and now has Indianapolis to show what he can do.
