NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell: What happened to Kyle Van Noy can't happen

NFL Players Association Executive Director Lloyd Howell was at the Ravens facility Thursday and shared his reaction to the treatment given to Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy during last Thursday's game in Kansas City.

It wasn't the van that drew that attention.”super amateur” after he waited a long time to see an ophthalmologist after breaking his orbital bone while playing. On Thursday, Howell said the collective bargaining agreement calls for players to see it “as soon as possible” and he felt the response fell short of the standard in this case.

“I think it's an unfortunate situation where it didn't happen,” Howell said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. “Thank God for Kyle's condition [that] It wasn't bad. But here we are with the first game of the season; We have many more games to play. We can't get it.”

Howell said the union “has made the necessary teams aware of how we need to improve, and I'm sure we will.” Van Noy has been out of practice as the Ravens prepare for this Sunday's game against the Raiders.
