Liam Payne's security footage shows star unconscious before his accidental death: report

A local journalist claims Argentine officials have security footage showing Liam Payne fainting from his hotel balcony before his death.

Paola Varela told Buenos Aires-based TV station Canal 13's program “Socios del Espectaculo” that the video supports the theory that Payne accidentally fell unconscious on Oct. 16 from the third story of the Palermo Hotel in Casasu.

“There's footage that's not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see Liam pass out and, sadly, fall off the balcony where he's at,” he claimed (per the Mirror).

“If he had been on her side of the bed, he would have fallen on her bed. It's not like he jumped on purpose. This footage is in the official case file,” Varela added.

Hotel staff found Payne, aged 31, dead in the courtyard shortly after he fell from the balcony of his room.

Buenos Aires authorities previously said in a statement to Page Six that “due to the position the body was in and the injuries sustained from the fall, it is believed that Paine did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and that he may have fallen. While semi- or fully unconscious.” .

The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office also shared a preliminary report with us, which revealed that the former One Direction singer suffered multiple injuries that resulted in internal and external bleeding.

Additionally, an emergency medical doctor stated that Payne “apparently” died instantly of “a cranial fracture and very severe trauma.”

Although authorities previously declined to comment on whether the former boy band member was under the influence of drugs at the time of his death, substances and paraphernalia were discovered in his hotel room.

A toxicology report later revealed that he had multiple drugs in his system, including crack, cocaine, and “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug typically mixed with methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA, and others.

In the hours before his death, several witnesses reported Payne acting erratically in the hotel lobby.

An American tourist even claimed that the late star left shortly before being “returned to his room” by hotel staff.

“There was an incident where he was very upset and smashed his laptop in the lobby, and then when he came down, he actually walked into the hotel lobby,” the hotel guest said in an interview for “IMPACT” x Nightline: One Direction: Liam. Penn's last day.”

Payne has long been open about his battle with mental health and drug addiction, which began during his time in One Direction and worsened after the band broke up in 2016.

“She was heartbroken and never really recovered,” a source told Page Six. “He was lost without his brothers,” referring to bandmates Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

That same source also told Page Six that the “Strip That Down” singer has overdosed before and had to be revived at least once during her drug addiction.

Liam is survived by his parents, Geoff and Karen; his sisters, Ruth and Sarah; Girlfriend Kate Cassidy and 7-year-old son, Bear, whom he shares with ex Cheryl Cole.
