A 2023 strike by Hollywood's actors and screenwriters union creates an oddity on the awards season calendar: two Emmy Awards ceremonies in the same year. Exactly eight months ago, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded another batch of Primetime Emmys, collecting six trophies for the final season of HBO's corporate drama “Legacy.”

With “Legacy” out of contention, the field has been cleared for new faces, including several from FX's splashy historical epic “Shogun.” And if the stars are feeling any feelings of déjà vu, they seem to be pushing through them: Once again at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, presenters and nominees from the year's biggest show are starting to arrive.
