Sean Payton on Panthers: It's not a good offense, we're going to see a lot of good teams

Broncos coach Sean Payton said there was nothing more impressive than today's 28-14 win over the Panthers.

Asked about his defensive play after today's game, Payton said the Panthers' success was less about what they did than what the offense couldn't do.

“I said this, It's not a good offense we played. It's just true. So we expected that, and we're going to see a lot of good teams,” Payton said, via Joe Parsons of TheAthletic.com.

Payton is 100 percent correct that the Panthers are not a good offense and that the Broncos will play better teams. But it's still surprising to see an NFL head coach speak so eloquently about an opponent. NFL coaches generally try hard not to say anything that might be seen as inflammatory or bulletin-board material, but Payton is comfortable saying what he wants about a Panthers team that hasn't earned and shown much respect around the NFL. by Peyton.
