Sabrina Carpenter joins Taylor Swift on her one-night getaway in New Orleans
Taylor Swift's Saturday night show in New Orleans brought surprises. In an orange dress, the singer told the crowd that she changed the rules for her surprise set. She was going to sing a song not in her discography, but in her friend Sabrina Carpenter's music catalog.
“I think tonight I'm going to do something completely different, which is I'm going to sing a song that's not mine, but it's someone I really love,” the singer told the 65,000 crowd before playing “Espresso” by Carpenter. He finished after a few lines and paused.
“So you really love that song as much as I do?” Swift asked with a smirk. “I know I'm just going off on a tangent because I love my friend and I'm so proud of Sabrina and the year she's had.”
The Eras tour crowd erupted at the Caesars Superdome when Swift grabbed her phone from the stage hand and put Carpenter on speaker.
“I'm really loud somewhere, I'm in New Orleans on the Eras tour,” Swift said by phone. “I just wanted to call and say I sang a little 'Espresso' and they said every word so loud. And I just wanted to say we all love you so much. What are you doing? Why aren't you? Here with us?”

“I'm somewhere where everyone is screaming so loud,” Carpenter said over the phone.
“I'm somewhere where people are screaming so loud,” Swift replied. “Can you hurry to the stadium? How long will it take to get to the ball park?”
“It'll probably take me five seconds,” Carpenter replied. The crowd cheered and then held their breath until Carpenter appeared on the platform in the diamond section of the stage. She strutted down the catwalk in her white dress.
Swift strummed an acoustic version of “Espresso” and sang the harmony with Carpenter.
“Holy s*** New Orleans!” After the first chorus of Dr. Carpenter.
“Can I do it?” “I'm working late, because I'm a singer,” Swift asked in reference to the first line of the second stanza. He then performed “1989 (Taylor's Version)” and then “Is It Over Now?”, from Carpenter's new album.
“She literally had a day off,” Swift said at the end of the triple mashup, “She's on tour. She's crazy she's here to perform for us. Will you please leave it for Sabrina Carpenter?”
Carpenter walked down the catwalk and disappeared onto the stage.
Swift moved to the piano for a mashup of “Hit Different” from “Midnights” and “Welcome to New York” from 1989 (Taylor's Version).
The singer-songwriter has one more performance in New Orleans. The tour will conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, Canada.
