'Babygirl' star Harris Dickinson, 28, dishes on sex scene with Nicole Kidman, 57: 'We did our own thing'
Harris Dickinson says he and Nicole Kidman freestyled their sex scene in their sexy new movie “Babygirl.”
“We would discuss it with the intimacy coordinator and then Nicole and I kind of did our own thing as we set the parameters of what we were both comfortable with,” Dickinson, 28, recently told Variety.
“The proximity coordinator is saying, 'What are you comfortable with, what do you want as a director, what are you comfortable doing from that perspective?' They're facilitating it and doing it very subtly without obstructing the actual scene.”
“Babygirl” follows a powerful CEO, Romy (Kidman), who begins a relationship with a young intern, Samuel (Dickinson). Romi's husband (Antonio Banderas) knows nothing about her dangerous liaison, which puts her career and her family life in jeopardy.
The movie proved terrifying for Kidman, 57. When asked what she thought was the most challenging part of making the film, Kidman told Variety, “The whole thing.”
“Really trying to do it justice and be open and raw and available in ways that can be explored every day,” he qualified.
“Because the nature of that film, it's either going to be completely vulnerable and exposed, or you're going to be protected and then the thing won't connect. When I met [Director Halina Reijn]And we talked it through, I was like, 'Give us a safe place,' and then, 'Please don't make me look stupid.'
Kidman also shared how filming took a toll on her physically. She recently revealed that she sometimes had to pause filming because of how the sexual tension was faked in multiple sex scenes with Banderas, 64, and Dickinson.
“There were times when we were shooting where I was like, 'I don't want to orgasm anymore,'” Kidman said, according to The Sun.
“I don't care if I'm never touched again in my life!” he quipped.
“It was so present for me all the time that it was almost like a burnout,” Kidman added.
Discussing “Babygirl” with Vanity Fair in August, Kidman said that acting on the project left her feeling “ragged.”
“At some point I was like, 'I don't want to be touched,'” he recalls. “I didn't want to do it anymore, but at the same time I was forced to do it. [Director] We don't have it [Reijn] Hold me and I will hold him, because it was too confronting for me.”
He still felt that way months after filming. “It's like, golly, I'm doing it, and it's actually now the world will see. It's a very strange feeling,” he said. “It's something you do and hide in your home videos It's not something the world would normally see.”
She added, “I felt so exposed as an actor, as a woman, as a human being. I had to go in and out, like, put my guard back on. What did I do? Where did I go? What did I do? Did I?”
“Babygirl” hits theaters on December 25.
