Tua Tagovailoa will meet with neurologists this week as he evaluates his future

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is seeking expert opinion as he considers his future in football.

Tagovailoa is Meeting with neurologists earlier this week and will seek their opinion on the severity of the concussion he suffered Thursday night and the cumulative effect on the brain of the multiple concussions he has suffered throughout his career, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Tagovailoa left Thursday night's game after Bills safety Damar Hamlin hit his head in a legal fight. It was particularly troubling given Tagovailoa's injury history, including a disturbing scene on national television in 2022 when he was knocked unconscious.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said he spoke with Tagovailoa and urged him to think more about his health and his family than his football career because he wanted a medical opinion.

Tagovailoa, 26, played well enough during his time in Miami that the Dolphins signed him to a four-year, $212 million contract this offseason. The Dolphins want him to be their franchise quarterback for next year, but his injury history calls that into question.
